Dr. Seuss writes a letter with his quintessential and timeless humor, and includes a copy of a of a newspaper clipping which pokes fun at him visiting New York with his wife, Audrey. She at the time was in a cast after breaking her foot, and he sported an eye patch after eye surgery. The newspaper quoted Dr. Seuss who was visiting the Picasso exhibit "We ought to blend right in at a Picasso show: A one-eyed man and a one-legged lady".

"Peter the Great rode into the house on his horse while I was wheeling Audrey around the Museum of Modern Art in her wheel chair.

It was a very nice present to receive on our return from New York and we are both duly thankful Audrey's foot and my eye, you will be pleased to know, are both improving and Peter's horse is eating well."
