This 5" x 3.25" (folded), free frank; docketed March 5, 1792. Addressed in an unknown hand to "Nathaniel Appleton Esquire / Commissioner of loans / Boston / Massachusetts." Signed by Hamilton at the lower left corner, "Free / A Hamilton." Docketed on verso, which records that the letter (not included) was respecting a draft concerning the Massachusetts bank and collector. Appleton (1731-1798) was the Massachusetts Commissioner of Loans from 1775 until his death, retaining the post after the formation of the new government following the conclusion of the American Revolution. The cover is accompanied by a LOA from JSA.
