A partial-printed commission signed "Abraham Lincoln" and countersigned by Secretary of War Edwin M. Stanton. 1p, measuring 15.75" x 19.75", Washington, D.C., March 5, 1864. The document nominates "William H. Parkhurst… Commissary of Subsistence of Volunteers with the rank of Captain in the service of the United States: to rank as such from the second day of March eighteen hundred and sixty four." Docketing present at upper left corner from the Adjutant General's office, recorded by William Augustus Nichols (1818-1869). Features four-hole punches along left margin, not affecting text. Expected folds and uneven toning throughout. Very good to near fine, with the President's signature maintaining a clean appearance.
